Gifts and tax

Gifts are income. SARS has made it clear that influencers must declare what they earn in cash or in kind, at fair market value. A movie ticket is taxable too, but the tax is trivial. An expensive fridge, or a car for a month, isn’t.

Flag it to the creator and the advertiser upfront. Don’t give tax advice: point them to SARS guidance or a tax practitioner.
